Most gearheads with musclecars love to show off the power that their car possesses. Joe Graham of Ontario, New York, wanted to introduce his 14-year-old son to the wonderful world of musclecars, so he took him out for a ride in his 1968 Camaro. But that introduction wasn’t a great one, because it landed the elder Graham in handcuffs.
It began innocently enough, but most people check out their surroundings before lighting ’em up, just to make sure there aren’t any cops around to catch them. Sometimes a big open lot just looks far too inviting to pass up, and it’s a perfect opportunity to make some smoke.
That’s what happened with Graham; he saw a big open lot with no other cars around and decided to treat his kid to a couple of donuts. However, some locals weren’t too happy with his actions on the parking lot with the freshly painted lines. Those lines now bear the remnants of Graham’s burnout, and the otherwise unmolested lot has been painted with black swirls.
Perhaps the worst part of this whole ordeal is the fact that Graham didn’t exactly check out his surroundings very well. You see, he was doing burnouts in the parking lot that belonged to a local Sheriff’s substation, right next to town hall. His 15 seconds of fun ended up with Graham downstairs in handcuffs, explaining to the Sheriff what he was doing.
Graham offered to repair any damage he had done, but they weren’t interested in his plea. Officials felt that he was putting his son in harm’s way and they kept him there for a couple of hours. Graham felt his moment of sharing a couple donuts with his son was innocent enough, but spending a couple of hours in handcuffs, without any clue as to what was going on with his son, made him second-guess his method of introducing his kid to musclecars.
Check out the video below, and tell us what you think: were the officers being far too harsh by arresting Graham, or do you think Graham should have been a little more responsible with his son and introduce him to musclecars a bit differently?
