This particular Willys body style isn’t the one legendary among Gassers. The Willys coupe body style was the one that dominated the Gasser era. Nonetheless, this Willys panel wagon we found on eBay is reported to be equally at home on the street, or at the track.
The most exotic part of the wagon is the airbag suspension. Other than that, it has a 468 cubic inch big block Chevy, Turbo 400 transmission, a Dana 44 rear end with Strange Engineering axles, Weld Racing wheels, and a Mustang II front suspension. All that is pretty standard Pro Street stuff, and Desert Autoplex, out of Mesa, Arizona, says the turnkey Willys loves to be driven.
If you don’t like getting attention from everyone else on the road, this ride might be for you, though. We bet getting gas would take an hour since everyone would be asking you questions about the Willys. Like, ‘did you paint it to look like that?’ You’ll be able to answer yes; it was painted to look like it’s been sitting next to grandpa’s barn the last 30 years.
If you buy the Willys, you can tell them whatever you want; they probably won’t know any better, anyway. Kreative Designs gave the Willys the patina to look like it has been sitting outside in the southwest for a minute. However, the body is reportedly to be in great shape, and with 500 horsepower on tap from the big block, frankly…who cares.
No expense was spared to build the Willys with tempered glass, custom stainless dash, Auto Meter gauges, 4-wheel disc brakes, a Painless Performance wiring harness, a custom exhaust, and much more.
