Look hard at this “car.” Look really, really hard. Can you see it?
We’re talking about the 1983 Pontiac Trans Am that supposedly underpins this “custom” car. Because try as we might, we can’t find any resemblance between the third-generation Trans Am that this eBay auction claims is there.
What the builder’s motivation or purpose behind this custom Trans Am, we can’t really say. What we can say is that it is weird and wild enough to be today’s eBay Find of the Day, though it appears the auction has already ended without meeting the reserve price. Yes, this car had a reserve.
This Trans Am, if it can even be called that, still bears the underwhelming power of a 305 TPI V8, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a 4-speed automatic transmission (with overdrive!). But the entire exterior looks as though a fiberglass monster puked all over it, and the result is…this…this…monstrosity.
What is it? Well, your guess is as good as ours. It looks to us as though someone wanted to create their own take on a European exotic kit car…but they just kept adding more and more fiberglass. The more we look at this Trans Am, the worse it looks, especially the interior. Faded seats, an ugly dash, missing paint…honestly, this Trans Am would probably sell for a lot more money if it was just totally stripped of the fiberglass and sold as a shell.
And yet we can’t take our eyes off of it, as we still can’t figure out WTF it is supposed to be. Can you?
