When Pontiac died in 2010, with it went all hopes of having a modern Trans Am hit the market much like the fifth-generation Camaro. But that didn’t stop several companies like Trans American Muscle (TAM) from stepping up and creating their own Trans Am remakes. Although you don’t see these cars many places besides shows, we’ve found one up for sale on eBay and it even includes an added tribute to disabled military veterans.
The 2012 TAM 1SS Camaro for sale features the company’s Muscle Bandit Package, which includes a TAM shaker hood with classic screaming chicken graphic, custom front and rear bumpers, custom rear spoiler, and fiberglass fender air extractors.
It also comes equipped with LED taillights, LED turn signals and “angel eye” headlights, a side-exit exhaust with MagnaFlow stainless mufflers, and 22-inch custom wheels wrapped in sticky rubber. The interior was upgraded with TAM’s complete interior treatment with custom embroidered seats.
On top of the traditional Bandit package, the modified Camaro also features a tribute to disabled veterans. This special package adds custom DAV graphics and logos to the car, as well as custom military pride door sills and patriotic DAV embroidery on the front headrests. And just when you thought it was all about appearances, the TAM Bandit also comes with a Whipple supercharger.
The car has only 376 miles on it and the seller, New Port Beach Auto Gallery, Inc. looks to be asking a rather lofty price for the conversion, with a “Buy It Now” price of $98,000 listed on eBay. Not surprisingly, the highest of eight bids at $21,651 hasn’t come close to meeting the reserve.
While nearly $100k may seem a bit steep for a modified Camaro, a TAM Bandit similar to this one recently sold at Barrett-Jackson for $150k with benefits going to charity. So maybe the asking price isn’t so crazy for such a unique tribute to the classic American muscle car.
