Classic Mercury Cougars are pretty uncommon cars compared to the Camaro, Mustang, and other super-popular sports cars from the 1960’s. And given the (relative) rarity of these cars, some of the best-options were produced in very small numbers.

For example back in 1970, the Cougar was available with a bevy of engine options, from the Boss 302 to the 428 Cobra Jet.

But of almost 2,000 1970 Cougar XR-7 convertibles, only 66 of them came with the venerable 428 Super Cobra Jet, like this one on eBay. This rare, fully restored Mustang is one of just 17 XR-7 convertibles with a 4-speed manual transmission.

But the best feature of this car isn’t the big block engine, the Drag Pak option, or even the Competition Blue Paint.

No, it’s the white leather, and white convertible top. This was a rare option even back when this car was new, and if you ask us, it looks great. The seller, who bought the car back in 1976, has had it fully restored back to factory specifications, and this Cougar has won multiple awards.

It’s a cool, uncommon car, and we have a soft spot in our hearts for these muscle car cats. It looks great too, and it has even won a “Best Paint” award from some car show along the way, so check out this link for even more pictures.
