Every Mustang enthusiast at some point in their life has a yearning for a Saleen Mustang. Whether it be an SC, SSC, SA10, S281 Extreme, or what have you, the model doesn’t matter, we pretty much love them all. This guy’s dream Saleen is a 1989 SSC, but yours may be the 2015 Black Label. If you’re budget won’t allow you to pursue either of those dreams, this Saleen Ranger could be the one that fits the bill.
This Saleen Ranger proves that just because a vehicle is rare, that doesn’t mean it’s worth a ton of money. When we wrote this up, the current bid was $2,900. Find a Saleen Mustang for that money, and you have a full restoration project on your hand. However, this Ranger appears to be ready to roll for many miles to come. The six-cylinder engine was just treated to a tune-up and a new clutch. There’s also new brakes, and a new gas tank. The ad says it is in very good running condition, but is in need of a heater core and some body work.
Yes, it is a Ranger, and not a Mustang, but the truck has all the same trimmings as a Saleen Mustang, including the suspension, seats, gauges, wheels, and the like. A 15-piece body kit dresses up the truck’s exterior, and the suspension boasts the same ideas that went into Saleen Mustangs. In fact, the Ranger has a Racecraft suspension.
This Saleen Ranger is 1 of 24 built, but this particular one was given away as a grand prize for the grand opening of Lechmere Department Store in the Boston area. The truck would make a perfect Saleen collection addition, or allow someone an economical entry into a Saleen vehicle.
