On March 7th and 8th the historic western town of Temecula, California will be hosting its annual Rod Run. According to local rumor, as of last year the word was that there would no longer be a Temecula Rod Run because the coordinators were relocating. Although Rod Authority has not dug deeper into the situation in order to learn about what has panned out since then, the ever-growing suburb of Temecula will, to our and other local’s fortune, be celebrating another year of hot rods, kustoms, and everything in between.
Old Town situated car shows are one of the best, they fall in line with other events whose setting takes place in historic sites. This alone compounds the nostalgia of days past and creates a truly magical experience. Temecula’s Old Town, like many others in the Southern California region, preserve the aesthetic of saloon-dotted gold mining towns of the 19th century.
Friday March 7th is the Rod Run Cruise Night. According to temeculaevents.com, “The city of Temecula locks down Old Town from arch to arch to allow these classic beauties to run wild. Come watch while these classic vehicles roam around, rev up their engines, honk their horns, and show off their stuff like never seen before.” Photos Courtesy Of: Temecula Rod Run
The cruise starts at 5:00 p.m. and goes on until 8:00 p.m.. After that don’t think that the party will die down, we can assure you that things will just be reaching operating temperature once car owners are parked and ready to mingle on the streets and in many of the site’s pubs and restaurants.
Saturday, March 8th is the show and shine–enjoy a bright morning snapping shots of cars and checking out goods from the droves of vendors that will setup shop. Drop in the historic Swing Inn Cafe for some breakfast or listen to bands while enjoying some Bloody Marys, this will certainly be a packed and social gathering.
The show and shine goes from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but you can bet that local pubs will be doing something extra special to provide some post-show fun. Don’t miss out, especially if you’re in the region. Check out Temecula Rod Run’s homepage for further details–see you there!
