What is important in your life? Chances are you’re like us, placing a lot of value on the cars in your “collection,” whether it is just one really beat-up old hot rod or dozens of high-value collector cars, you can put a price on sentimental attachment. At the end of the day though, they’re just cars, and even in the safety of ones own mancave, chance can strike and steal away all your precious possessions.
That’s what happened to Indar Bahn, the Register Guard reports. The Eugene, Oregon resident’s “mancave” caught on fire, destroying three classic muscle cars, a brand new Camaro, as well as several all-terrain vehicles.
But Bahn kept it all in perspective, telling the RG that “It’s a pretty big loss, but what’s important is that we’re all safe.” That’s a pretty calm way of looking at the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars in cars, toys, and of course the mancave itself, a cavern whereupon only the male members of our species are allowed to enter. Lost in the fire was a ’68 Plymouth Barracuda, a ’69 Ford Mustang, a ’71 Chevy Chevelle SS, and a ’11 Camaro SS.
We have to say that we love Bahn’s diverse taste in muscle cars (one from each of the Big Three) and Bahn also kept several ATV’s and a gun collection inside the 3,300 square foot man cave (more like man mountain…) The fire was huge, collapsing the roof. The cause is still under investigation, though the fire appears to have originated in the garage portion of the building. Luckily, everything was insured, which is probably why Bahn wasn’t trying to run into the burning building and save his cars. It still sucks, but now he has the chance to rebuild it even better.
