If you’re a muscle-car kind of person and have ever tried to convince someone who could care less for the breed, you know that it can be a challenging encounter.
While you can sit around all day bragging about what a muscle car can do, nothing beats experiencing a muscle car first hand. And what better way to convince someone that muscle is the way to go than to put them behind the wheel one of America’s iconic cars?
Hotchkis did just that last week – handing over the keys of H-Team member Elena Scherr‘s ‘70 Dodge Challenger to Forbes writer Hannah Elliott for part of her visit to California. Thanks to Elliott and Forbes for a look at Elliott’s muscle car experience.
Elliott was in California to film some celebrities, report on Ferraris at the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach and drive ICON Jeeps. During her stay, she was entrusted with the Hotchkis Challenger.
In her Forbes article, Elliott called the Challenger “Mr. Beast.” While she said she loved driving it, she couldn’t help but point out what she called idiosyncrasies (we call them classic muscle car experiences). Not only did she note the mere size of the car, upside-down ignition and cold starts, she also pointed out the continuous heat in the interior, low ride, bad gas mileage and lack of a radio. What more could a true muscle car offer?
While some of these things didn’t seem to impress Elliott, she did say she loved driving the car around. The Challenger ended up winning Elliott over with its handling, raw muscle rumble, automatic transmission and practical back seat, not to mention its undeniable personality.
While we don’t know if Elliott has been completely converted to a muscle car girl, we’re confident that she’ll always remember her experience with the Challenger. Leave it to American muscle to speak for itself.
