Recently at the 2014 Chicago Mecum Auction, it could be said that Ford ended up walking away with the gold, silver, and bronze, as they ended up having the top three cars of the auction (Really, thanks to a ’69 Boss 429, they had the top four, but who ‘s counting). The top three cars were all from the New Millennium, boasted low miles and were all Ford’s legendary supercar: The legendary Ford GT.
Placing in third at the growing 2nd year auction, was a 2005 Ford GT with a Le Mans stripe delete. This rare Mark IV Red supercar had only 384 miles and all the bells and whistles that come with a GT. With plenty of horsepower, plenty of torque, and plenty of speed this car was bought for a cool $300,000.
A one owner, 2006 Ford GT came in second at the auction. With a serial number of 12 out of the2011 built, this Mark II Black painted car with the Silver Le Mans stripe was eye catching. Having only 300 miles and knowing those miles all started at the Mike Finnin Ford in Dubuque, Iowa helped this car sell for a cool $335,000.
The number one seller for the entire auction was again another 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition. Not only was this rare color scheme one of only 343 produced in 2006, but like the other two, the supercar boasted only 182 miles. This immaculate supercar with the iconic paint scheme sold for a staggering $475,000!
Mecum’s next classic car auction will be held on the west coast November 13th through the 15th in Anaheim, California.
