Larry Larson had this great (or crazy) idea to take a 1998 Chevy S-10 truck, modify it for some serious drag racing, and drive it from event to event during the 2014 drag week. Capitalizing on the quality of Fragola Performance Systems‘ hose and hose ends, and a few other top shelf aftermarket automotive parts, Larson built his truck from the ground up.
Larson actually started the project on January 5th of 2014 when he purchased the S10. The truck features a Larson Race Car 25.2 chassis with all of the fabrication, bodywork and paint done in-house at Larson Race Cars. The entire idea was to build a “real” street car, one with steel corners and doors, with enough muscle under the hood to push the limits on the track, and drive to each venue hauling a trailer with the needed equipment to support the races. Crazy idea, and crazy race team. Just crazy enough to make it work.
Fragola Performance Products tracked Larson’s drag week, from town to town, and everything in between, posting updates on their Facebook fan page. From day 1, when the truck hooked up to the trailer in Topeka, to the final passes down the track at Tulsa Raceway Park, Fragola kept everyone up to date on the progress.
Videos of the super-truck pulling a trailer into El Dorado give the impression that this truck wasn’t really built for speed. Looks can be deceiving, however. This truck set out to establish a new mark as the quickest streetcar, and they succeeded. Fragola Performance Parts claimed some of the victory in that achievement with their top-shelf line of plumbing components for performance systems.
Larson ended up setting a new record with a blistering 6.16-seconds at 219 mph at Tulsa Raceway Park on September 13, 2014.
