Some of our most memorable moments occur when you win something. In all honestly, it doesn’t mean that other things in your life that have occurred aren’t important. No, it just occurs considering not a whole lot of individuals win anything, period. Let alone a ’69 Chevelle SS like Tom Overton and his wife Johanna did this past weekend during a Goodguys event. Festivities took place over this past weekend at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, California during the Goodguys 22nd Autumn Get-Together.
Though they drove to the Goodguys 22nd Autumn Get-Together together, they drove home separately. Not because a pesky disagreement, but because Tom was actually driving home in his new ride, courtesy of a Giveaway event presented by J. Rockcliff Realtors, CBS 5, and a radio station KITS FM, known locally in the bay area as “Live 015.”
As luck would have it, Overton actually owned a SS 396 El Camino. Unfortunately, it was stolen and never recovered. This time, however, Overton is determined to keep it and as he put it, “Maybe even do a burnout!” Overton also plans on bringing it back to the Pleasanton Fairgrounds for next year’s round of events.
Overton’s new ride features a 396ci big-block, front disc brakes, factory SS wheels, power steering, factory bucket seats, and even air conditioning, too. Flowmaster exhaust makes sure everyone notices it coming down the street, before they see it. It’s the 6th car in the last 13 years Goodguys has given away as a promotion in Northern California. From the powerTV crew, and Goodguys gang, congratulations Tom!
