On the surface, this over-the-top Toyota Celica looks like an extensive project undertaken to transform a weakling of a front wheel drive road car into a drag racing-styled machine, albeit with far too much “Fast & Furious” movie influence in its appearance for the tastes of most self-respecting drag racers. Sure, it doesn’t suit our fancy, but you can at least respect a hot rodder doing something different. But as you look closer, you’ll find that this Celica is not at all what it appears to be. In fact, it’s far worse.
You see, between those giant DOT meats on the back of this thing, you won’t find a rear end housing, a third member, a driveshaft, or anything. Why? Because it’s still front wheel drive. That’s right, those little skinny frontrunners the owner has put on the car to give it a racey look are in fact dragging those big wheels and tires on the back down the road. Better yet, according to unconfirmed information around the web, the Toyota four-cylinder engine is entirely stock. Oh, but it does have a cold air intake.
But it gets better. In the trunk, there’s an overdone stereo system, along with a dummy nitrous oxide bottle that isn’t hooked to anything. And then, there are the wheelie bars, which don’t have much place on the road anyway, but certainly not on a front wheel drive car with less than 200 horsepower on a good day. And lastly, the exhaust shown protruding from the rear bumper is at least partially non-functional, as photo show one of the coil over shocks actually going through one of the tailpipes.
This thing has been referred to as a bonafide “Hall of Shame” entry around the web, and few would argue that. Admittedly, we’re not fans of Toyota Celica’s, but man, we really feel sorry for this one. It didn’t deserve this fate.
