One of the hottest events that any musclecar lover or gearhead can attend has got to be the autocross competitions that pit man and raging machine against the time clock. Seeing these high horsepower musclecars on steroids, with fat rubber leaving it’s mark at every corner and the smell of racing fuel in our lungs, competitions like the Heidts Midwest Performance Car Challenge has been growing like crazy.  And if you’ve thought about attending, procrastination is not a virtue associated with this event, because time is running out to get yourself registered if you want to enter the competition.

Just like these adrenaline junkies fly through the course, time has been flying by and May is going to be here before you know it.  Heidts Automotive Group has told us that registration is filling up fast, so if you’re interested in getting your car out on the track at the Autobahn Motorsport Country Club in Joliet, Illinois, this May, you need to get over to their site and click the “register” button and fill out the online form.

Now in their third year, the event is expected to draw in thousands of spectators, and we will have our second-to-none Power Automedia video department out there to catch the competition forever digitally! The fun starts on May 10, where Heidts Performance Group will hose a tour of their facility, and then a barbecue for participants. Following the barbecue, a Road Rally will take place heading out to the Holiday Inn in Joliet for the evening.

Cost for the competition is $175 for either Saturday or Sunday, or $350 for the entire weekend. The competition will include more than just throwing the car around in the cones, though, because the Speed Stop Squared challenge will see how well you can control your car head-to-head, as well as stop your car in a designated “stop box”.
