It is easy to wake up every morning and take for granted the fact that most of us can dress, wash, and, of course, drive ourselves wherever we want to go. That is not the case for everybody though, and it is hard to imagine being a gearhead when you do not have any control over your arms and legs. Yet, some people manage to take this adversity and turn it into a positive.
Michael-Ryan Pattison, a 25-year old quadriplegic, has dreams of one day driving a specially modified 1947 Hudson Race Truck to a land speed record. By contributing to the Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation, you can help this young man’s dream come true.
In May of 2005, Michael-Ryan was just 20 when a car accident changed his life forever. He was paralyzed from the neck down, and cannot even breathe on his own. However, that has not stopped him from raising awareness about spinal cord injuries and helping pull in funding for foundations that deal with the debilitating situation.
To help raise even more awareness, the Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation is sponsoring the building of a ’47 Hudson land speed racing truck that they hope will bring even more awareness to Michael’s cause. The truck is being designed and built by Randy Simmons, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who specializes in robotics. He is developing a mouthpiece accelerator/steering wheel that will allow Michael-Ryan to actually pilot this land speed monster.
Currently this project is seeking sponsors to help the dream come true. There are multiple donation levels available, from $5,000 all the way up to $100,000 or more. If you’ve got deep pockets and a big heart, hopefully you can help make this man’s dream come true.
