Did you ever want to own a brand new ’79 Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition? For many of us, we weren’t old enough to buy a car, or even born yet, when the Anniversary Editions came out. However, we all now have the chance to own one and we’re not kidding when we say it’s brand new.
With the ups and downs of today’s economy, it is not uncommon to see people getting rid of their rather rare cars to make ends meet. It is, however, extremely unusual to find a 32-year-old car that is still “new” up for grabs. But it’s not impossible.
A ’79 Trans Am is up for auction at the beginning of July that is truly coming off the show room floor-never titled and with the stickers still on the windows.
Equipped with the W72 400cui engine and manual four-speed transmission, the car was apparently heavily optioned from the factory.
Unfortunately it is unclear what factory options are on this car, but Jalopnik writer Tom Joslin states that there were so many options that two window stickers were needed to list them all.
The car was shipped to Kitterman Motorsports in Corydon, Indiana right after it was manufactured. It was there that the car sat in the showroom for over 30 years.
Between the manufacture date and the time that the auction was announced, the car only occurred 6.7 miles on the odometer. The Trans Am is being auctioned off due to Kitterman going out of business after 80 years.
If anyone is interested in a chance to own it, the Trans Am will be auctioned off on July 2nd at Kitterman Motorsports. The rest of the content from the dealership will also be auctioned off at that time.
