A gorgeous 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback will soon be up for grabs at the Kansas City Mecum Auction. While these Shelby Mustangs are seen in regular attendance at these caliber of auctions, this particular GT500, thanks to very impressive imagery, has caught our eye.
The Shelby boasts a rebuilt 428 Police Interceptor V-8 engine with 355 hp. It’s still equipped with the factory 4-speed transmission along with power steering and power brakes. The Candy Apple Red with White stripes Shelby is equipped with the original Black interior except for the new carpet and new seat upholstery.
This Shelby, No. 2720, has been restored professionally by Ray Shimak and is already a documented award winner by capturing the AACA Junior and Senior awards. The car does have the factory markings on the underside and has the original order sheet. Not only does the car have the classic autograph of Carroll Shelby, but the Shelby Registry also has the car listed and the car comes with a deluxe Marti Report. With the car only being owned by one family from 1970 until 2005, the owner’s manual still comes with the car, along with a reproduction window sticker.
The Shelby sits on Kelsey Hayes 10-spoke Shelby wheels wrapped in vintage Goodyear Polyglas tires. With Koni shocks and the original BJ and BK series carburetors this Shelby is truly a complete classic car.
Ultimately, the Shelby is what they all are normally advertised to be: A powerful Ford pony car. But where this Shelby excels is the photography. If you are looking to get top dollar for your vehicle then this should be your inspiration. The photos are stunning and the forest road backdrop is the perfect setting for this car. You can literally picture yourself unleashing the 428 on this road. It doesn’t get much better than that.
