In Car Footage of a Factory Five Challenge Racer at Road Atlanta

There is no doubt that you’ve seen your fair share of Cobra kit cars out there, but how many people can actually say they’ve experienced racing in one? Well, thanks to Factory Five [1] and blogger John George [2], you can experience the fourth race of the Endurance Challenge Series (ECS) held at Road Atlanta last weekend from the drivers seat of Jim Schenck’s Factory Five Challenger Car. Check it out above.

The Endurance Challenge Series runs as part of the National Auto Sport Association races across the country. At the fourth race of the season, held Sunday June 17th at Road Atlanta, 11 Factory Five Racing Challenge Cars showed up to compete, including Schenck’s gorgeous blue and yellow roadster.

Through qualifying and official races, many of the cars encountered challenges this past weekend, including Scott McKay who had to change his wiring harness and get new injectors put in immediately, Tom Lavell who made major contact on the track after spinning out in Friday’s three-hour race, causing him to have to retire his Factory Five Challenge Car early in the weekend, and other competitors that battled with cracked J-pipes, broken rocker studs, and cracked exhausts. But the weekend wasn’t all bad news for the racers.

Saturday’s qualifying session resulted in amazing 1:36 and 1:37 times while the race brought stiff competition with Factory Five racer Paul Arnold taking first and Schenck taking second. Sunday’s race had nearly the same results with Arnold and Schenck once again coming in at first and second place.
