In the nick of time Stephen B swooped in and saved this 1965 Fuelie Corvette from certain death. The Vette was trapped inside of a shed which was on its last legs and was about to cave in on this cherry red machine. Stephen spotted the Vette from the yard and immediately contacted the owner. He offered to buy this car, and the owner – happy to see someone who will appreciate this Corvette – agreed and even helped him pull the car.
The Corvette had spent in the last 30 years in this shed. Originally it was one of the famed fuel injected “fuelie cars” made famous by Bruce Springsteen’s hit racing in the street. This was a nickname hot rodders gave to the Corvette’s Rochester fuel injection system as it was unique in the era of carburetion. Its fuelie motor has long been swapped for a simpler carbureted 350. To pull the Corvette from the shed large chucks of debris had to be moved out of the way. Ironically, the shelter built to protect the Corvette is what was killing it. A large portion of the shed had to be knocked away in order to free the red musclecar.
Stephen is planning on performing a full nut and bolt restoration and bringing her up to show-worthy condition. He hasn’t told us the plans for her or if he plans on trying to restore the original fuelie system. Either way we are glad to see one of these rare Corvettes saved from certain death.
