Our colleagues over at Left Lane News put up an incredible set of pictures recently of their trip to the CTC Auto Ranch just outside of Denton, TX. The cars at CTC Auto range in age drastically, from the 1930’s on up, but it’s the 50’s through 70’s era cars that really gain our interest.
Each car there is slowly eroding away over time, but due to the relatively calm climate in Texas the changes are not happening quickly. It’s still possible to find a complete ’74 Nova there, a Corvair, a ’69 Super Bee, or even a ’57 Chevy.
Some cars appear to have simply been driven in and shut down years ago, while others have obviously had visitors from time to time looking to harvest some valuable and hart to find original parts.
CTC allows visitors to cruise through their yard for a mere $5, and to us it looks to be worth the fee. While they don’t portray to having anything particularly rare in their lot, we all know the value of solid sheet metal when we see it.
It’s simply easier to start a project that is “something” vs. “nothing!” With the popularity of the patina paint scheme as of late it would not be too far out of reach to put something on the trailer from CTC’s yard, take it home for a drive train refresh, and then hit the car shows!
