Is This Rare Black on Black 1973 Camaro Z28 Worth 6 Figures?

1973 Camaro Z28 black on blackIn this day and age, odds are that you have a better chance of finding the lost city of Atlantis than you do finding a 1973 Camaro Z28 with under 5000 miles on the clock. Even in Vegas every once in a while someone beats the odds and comes out on top – like Lewis Bungard who got a hold of this 1973 Camaro Z/28 black on black with only 2885 original miles.

The car has had three documented original owners, the first of these ordered the car from the factory and seldom drove it until 1986, tallying only 2100 miles on the car before selling it. The second owner purchased the car and drove it even less, clocking only 784 miles from 1986 to 2013. He then sold it to Bungard who has since put ½ mile on it driving during in and out of a parking garage during the 2013 Norwood Plant Reunion.1973 Camaro Z28 black on black bumper

The original owner may or may not have known it at the time but he ordered a special ride. Aside from the black on black paint other options were air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, power brakes, power steering as well as all three packages: the LT package, the RS Package and the legendary Z28 package.

The LT Package included variable ratio power steering, hidden wipers, full instrumentation and wood grain instrument panel and door trim. The Rally Sport (RS) package included a black painted grill, independent spaced front and rear bumpers, a hood panel and body moldings; body colored insert on door handles and reinforced bars from the front fenders to the core support to help support the urethane front nose.

The Z28 was the definitive package for the 1973 Camaro. Its what transformed the Camaro into a street racing legend. The streets came alive when the 245 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque 350 SBC with the Rochester Quadrajet, hydraulic lifter cam and dual exhaust came screaming by. This rumbling package was mated to a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a 3.42:1 rear end. The package also added Z28 badging and 15×7 inch wheels.

The car is up for sale on Racing Junk and its current price tag is $115,000, is this a fair price tag for a low mileage car or is this too much?1973 Camaro Z28
