It’s Officially Official: Camaro Z/28 Returns In 2012

Ever since muscle cars have been produced there has been no greater competition then the Ford and Chevy brands. Ford started there version of the muscle car in 1964 with the Ford Mustang that quickly became one of Americans icons. Shortly after Ford’s release with the Mustang, Chevy retaliated with the Camaro in 1967 to help regain sale and power status. Although the Camaro did very well with its release, the Mustang would outsell the Camaro for the next twenty five years.

Fast forward to 2010 and the feud still lives strong among both.  With the death of the Camaro in 2002, its return in 2010 looked to regain its respect once again. The Camaro’s sales have been increasing since its return and for the first time in 25 years. This has put Chevy out front by out selling the Mustang this year with 75,685 Camaro’s to Fords 68,264 Mustangs.

With such close sales both brands look to release new more powerful models in the near future. Ford already has the Shelby GT500 that is supercharged putting out 540 horsepower. They look to release the Boss 302 in 2011.

Chevrolet has a few different models of the Camaro that includes the powerful SS. In 2012 Chevy will look to release the long awaited Camaro Z/28 that is rumored to have a supercharger and LS3 engine making 560-plus-horsepower, similar to the Cadillac CTS-V engine and supercharger combo. Since the release of the Camaro in 2010 consumers have been asking for various models like the new Camaro Convertible and the Z/28, so far they wishes look to be coming true very soon.

Don’t look for Ford to be out of the race any times soon, as they keep living on the edge of power and technology. Both companies will keep the muscle car alive and consumer will be happy with the end product.
