We recently stumbled upon Jalopnik’s review of the Top 10 Movie Horror cars and had to admit that it was, *cough,* really pretty good. In fact, while it’s so good that it’s worth sharing we do take issue with at least one obvious move freakazoid that did not make the list.
First and foremost though, give credit where credit is due; Christine. The ’58 Plymouth Fury in the Steven King movie was so convincing as a 4-wheeled devil machine that we still freak out when we see Fury’s at car shows. Over 20 Plymouth’s portrayed Christine in the movie, and true muscle car nuts will likely remember the ’68 Charger and ’67 Camaro used in the movie as well.
What’s missing from Jalopnik’s list is one that we couldn’t be more obvious; the freaky Green Goblin semi from another Steven King movie, Maximum Overdrive.
Why the Green Goblin’s head was mounted to the ’77 Western Star 4864 is something we still don’t know, but there were many a night we couldn’t get those freaky red eyes out of our heads before bedtime.
Just in case a few of you are pointing out the fact that Jalopnik’s list was specific to cars should note that Jalopnik did choose one truck, the ’41 Chevy Cab Over from the movie Jeepers Creepers. We’ll have to admit we don’t know that one as well as the other cars they selected, but there’s no question that the freaky semi from Maximum Overdrive is far more scary!
