American politics has become increasingly divisive and disruptive in the past few years, and regardless of who you blame, it isn’t pretty. Still, it can be useful to remind ourselves that every politician, even one whose views may not be the same as our own, are still human beings. Vice President Joe Biden is one of the wackier politicians out there, but he has proven time and again to have an affinity for American automobiles.
One of his former rides is a 2005 Cadillac STS that has shown up for sale on Craigslist. Whether you want to ride around in Biden’s former ride, or blow it up with a stick of dynamite, all it’ll cost you is a cool $15,000.
Now that’s quite the markup over what one might expect to spend on a decade-old Caddy with an unspecified amount of miles. It’s even more eyebrow-raising when one reads further into the ad and realize that this Cadllac needs “minor” engine work, which is Craigslist code for “it either costs a lot, or is a huge pain in the ass to do.” The suspension also needs attention in the form of shocks and struts, and the seller offers no sort of documentation as proof.
It takes just a little bit of research to find that similar Cadillac’s in perfect running order rarely command more than $8,000. Does Joe Biden’s ownership really make it all the more valuable? Sure, maybe a little, but Biden isn’t exactly a rockstar, even in the world of American politics. He’s more like the entertaining and mostly-harmless wacky uncle. It’s an interesting proposition, but not at $15,000.
But that’s just us. What would you pay for Biden’s Cadillac?
