In the last few years Kenny Brown has made a return to the Mustang performance scene, and one of his latest creations is his Mango Tango Mustang. The car features a twin turbo’d three valve producing 550HP with many of his new bolt on suspension, brake, and body improvements.
KB needed a wheel that would offer proper clearance for the car’s massive six piston Baer brakes. It also had to offer proper backspacing, be lightweight and look good as well. Thus, he turned to Weld Racing for their RT-S High Pad wheel. Long known in Mustang circles for their popular drag racing wheels, Weld Racing also produces wheels for a wide variety of applications, including street going cars and trucks, as well as road racing.
The RT-S not only looks good, but it was designed with late model muscle cars in mind. The three piece forgings are assembled here in the USA, and welded together at the company’s Kansas plant. The three piece design allows for a variety of size configurations ranging from as small as 15×3.5″ to huge 20×17.5″ sizes.
The RT-S doesn’t just rely on wide ranging sizes and good looks alone though. It’s also is incredibly lightweight when compared with wheels of the same size. Additionally it’s design focuses weight away from the rim shell to reduce rolling inertia. This maximizes a car’s engine and suspension performance, giving a car like KB’s Mango Tango one more advantage on the track.
The wheels also have three mounting pad designs. Low, medium and high pad options offer fitments to clear a variety of different braking systems. Weld Racing RT-S rims area also available in two finishes, either the company’s traditional polished aluminum, or black. A variety of back spacing and bolt patterns are also available.
