An entire industry has been built up around a subset of auto enthusiasts who love nothing more than burning rubber and turning tires into smoke. Drifting is little more than a continuous burnout around a pre-determined circuit. The most important tools for any burnout artist is of course the tire…and if you’re feeling a little, shall we say, flamboyant, why not get some colored tires for some colored burnouts?
This video, found by Carscoop, shows Gary Myers and his ’72 Ford Falcon XA Coupe laying down some rubber at the annual SummerNats in Australia.
Australians love to do burnouts, and they have whole competitions based on who can burn the best rubber. Colored smoke tires meanwhile have been around for a while, though some consider them more a gimmick than anything else.
We’ve seen red, blue, and yellow smoke tires before…but purple? That’s new to us.
The purple haze of tire smoke goes well with the two-tone look of Myer’s ‘72 Falcon, which as you may have already noticed differs substantially from the American-built Falcon. This is Australia’s version of the Mustang for all intents and purposes, though some might argue that the Aussies are much rougher on their rides. We’ll let you decide for yourselves, though Myer’s and his Falcon do make a persuasive argument…
