All summer long, we heard almost weekly updates on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and the delay in the release date had potential owners sitting on the edge of their seats. The burnouts, the racetrack videos, the bragging and the bashing have all taken place prior to the car ever being delivered to a single owner. The internet forum battles, the comparisons, and memes that bash the “fat cat” are all enough to make you want to do it all over again. Really, it’s been fun.
Well, now’s your chance to start the flame wars and the bragging all over again, because the Hellcats have been released and are on their way to Dodge dealerships, ready for the awaiting enthusiasts to snatch up their 707 horsepower Hellcat Challenger. The cars had been delivered to the docks and sat there in droves, and now Dodge has announced that the trucks are there, the cars are being picked up, and they’re being delivered.
Did you order a Hellcat Challenger? We know of a few people and dealerships that have given us word that the VINs have been given out to prospective buyers, and on some forums like Hellcat.org the anticipation has flooding the site with questions about delivery, color choices, automatic or manual, interior trim, and of course the most important question of all: “what’s the first thing you’re going to do with it?”
The first one sold at auction for a cool $825,000, but the rest of them are going for far less. We’ll give you some updates when we find out, and when the first one’s are delivered here in Southern California we’ll see if we can be a part of it and see what the new owners have to say. The musclecar wars are back, ladies and gentlemen, and we welcome all comers and their steeds, whether you’re Blue Oval, Bowtie, or (why the hell did FCA do away with the) Pentastar. Gotta love it… horsepower is all around us and that’s pretty cool!
