Few upgrades are as simple or important to your car as air filters. Based on this simple-yet-true fact, K&N Air Filters has built itself a small empire around providing plenty of clean air to engines of all kinds. Knowing this, K&N has managed to carve out an impressive presence at shows like the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association, or SEMA Show. This year will be no different, as K&N should have a very special car hanging out at its booth.
On its website, K&N Air Filters has announced that in addition to new air intakes and air filters, K&N will be showing off Bob Griffith’s custom Dodge Viper at its booth on the Las Vegas Convention Center’s floor.
As you might already expect, this is no simple Dodge Viper. The 510 cubic inch motor was built by Andrew “Serge” McClelland and features a twin-turbo system from Twin Turbo Motorsports and Bullseye Power. This was tuned by Shane Tecklenburg and the electric work was done by Greg Pyles, all of who had an integral part in helping this machine achieve a 210 MPH run at the Nevada Silver State Mile Shootout. At last month’s Mojave Mile, it went over 222 mph!
It is more than just a speed machine though, as it has a completely custom body kit added to it for looks. Power is estimated to be between 949 and 1,000 horsepower at the wheels, a mind-boggling number for any of us regular guys. Of course, it took four years of hard work to make this project come to life, but even for those of us who just get to look at it, it was well worth the effort. Make sure you stop by the K&N Air Filters booth to check this wicked ride out next week.
