October was officially breast cancer awareness month, but this terrible form of cancer is with many people all year round. When Dan Neve learned in 2010 that his wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer, he decided he wanted to do more than just hold her hand through this tough time. He wanted to get out and raise money and awareness, to take an active part in breast cancer awareness.

And what better way to do that than with a Shelby GT500? Over at K&N Filters website they tell the story of Dan Neveand his pink-adored Shelby GT500.

When Dan’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, it was the second woman in his wife to be inflicted with the disease. A year earlier, his mother had also contracted breast cancer. Dan, who works in construction, decided to start taking his Shelby GT500 to car shows to try and raise money and awareness for the Susan G. Komen foundation.

But Dan wanted to do even more, so he contacted Ford about using their Warriors in Pink logo on his Shelby. Then Dan contacted sponsors like K&N Filters, who donated money and prizes for raffles that Dave held. He was so successful that Ford even put his Shelby on display at SEMA. To date, Dan has raised over $24,000 with his pink-accented Shelby and put over 20,000 miles on it in two years. Normally we wouldn’t approve of pink on a muscle car, but in this case we can make an exception.
