Locked And Loaded: Ring Brothers To Debut Recoil Chevelle At SEMA

recoil00When it comes to restorations, Mike Ring will tell you right up front, “We don’t do restorations.” If you’ve seen any builds that came from Mike and his brother Jim, the Ring Brothers, then you know that their builds teeter on the edge of wild and extreme.

The interior is nothing less than extreme.

Unlike many wild and extreme rides, however, cars that come from their shop are drivable, and often get put through their paces by the owners. Last year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, we got to see a pretty wild custom build from the Ring Brothers called ADRNLN – a custom-built Pantera that had half the crowd excited, and the other half asking why.

But that is what the Ring Brothers do, they build wild customs and they throw caution to the wind, because putting an LS in a Pantera just seemed like the thing to do. Mike said, “None of the body was usable anyway, so it was a complete custom build and we wanted to be different.” Different it was, as are all of their builds.

Even the outside mirrors didn’t escape the Ring Brothers’ custom touch.

This year, they’re laying their master skills down on another classic: a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle. While the details of this custom build are not being shared just yet due to the unveiling planned for SEMA next month, we did get a few treats in two-dimensional form showing us what to expect from Mike and Jim.

They call this Chevelle a “refined racecar”, a blend of raw power and sleek details, giving it the name “Recoil”. Powering Recoil will be a Whipplecharged Wegner Motorsports LS7 putting out about 980 horsepower through a set of Flowmaster mufflers.

From the teaser pictures that were sent to our inbox, it looks like the Ring Brothers are going to light up the Royal Purple booth at SEMA once more with another insane build. They’ll unveil it at 1:30 pm on November 4th, in SEMA’s Central Hall. We’ll be sure to bring back lots of pics and information for you.
