I’ve owned several Fox Mustangs over the years and the thing that I always hated was having to adjust the clutch. It seemed like I was never able to get it just right. McLeod Racing has been in the performance clutch business for years and the company has a hydraulic conversion kit for Mustangs from 1979 to 2004 that used cable clutches from the factory. The big upside to going to a hydraulic clutch from the factory cable is that you never have to adjust the clutch again, you get a lighter pedal feel by removing the factory cable drag, and you get faster clutch release.
The kit that McLeod offers is complete and has all the parts from the reservoir to hoses and cylinders that you need to install the system. McLeod has a nice video how-to that shows the steps for installing the new 1979 -2004 Mustang Hydraulic Conversion kit in your car all the way from assembly to bleeding and finally bolting it into the car.
The how-to video walks you through every step from removing the factory cable to putting the parts in. The installation does include some drilling of the firewall. McLeod shows you how to bleed the system before you do the install for an easy installation. The reservoir for the master cylinder can be mounted just about anywhere you want since it is remote. If you are interested in changing your clutch cable equipped Mustang over to a hydraulic clutch check the video out to see what all is involved in the process.
