It’s an incredible thing when the masses rise up and speak as a whole. We’ve seen it in public elections. We’ve seen it in humanitarian efforts in case of natural disaster. And we’ve seen it in trends. While this year’s SEMA show has been chocked full of awesome cars, there has been a surprisingly large amount of Mopar muscle. From the mid-60’s until today’s modern iron, the Dodges and Plymouths have still weathered the rages of age, popularity and economy. Sure, there’s always going to be plenty more Mustangs and Camaros, but we had to sit back and marvel at the majesty of the Mopar.
Built by Richard Petty's Garage, this special edition Challenger is based off a SRT8 and features the iconic Petty blue paint and red highlight scheme that "The King" made so famous. While numbered as "001" of the Petty Editions, the following are supposed to be based off of the 6.1L Drag Pak Challengers.
We compiled a quick and dirty collection of some of the coolest Pentastar muscle cars we found around the monstrous Las Vegas Convention Center. We’re sure to stumble across a couple more, so don’t be surprised if this photo gallery springs a few more occupants.
Looks like another nice HEMI B-Body, right? Not quite. This silver convertible R/T Coronet features a stroked and bored 472 dual-quad HEMI but with all of the creature comforts that the aftermarket could supply, namely air conditioning, power steering and power disc brakes. Who says you can't have it all?
Challengers were the hot ticket this year. This wide-body edition had a raised panel running along its quarter with a large "HEMI" logo. Supercharged and riding on some serious meat, this Challenger looks the part.
Top Banana: Beneath the cover of the Mopar Alley tent sat a great cross-section of Mopar's muscle car legacy. This third-generation GTX was a prime example.
Because "overkill" is a four-letter-word, this insanely blown aluminum HEMI-powered '71 'Cuda is, without a doubt the meanest looking machine on the floor. The folks at K&N could have felt their booth empty except for this Lime Green and charcoal black E-Body and still have tons of traffic.
Sometimes restraint is just as attractive. With clean-yet-retro 20-inch two-tone rims and a white shoulder R/T stripe, this Challenger was our favorite in the Wheel & Tire Expo.
Debuting before the episode aired publically, this gorgeous T7 Tuscan Bronze Charger was rescued from certain doom. And original HEMI 4-speed, this Charger surprisingly made it through the factory lines without being badged an R/T. Is it a mistake? Actually, no, says "Chop, Cut, Rebuild." The show partnered with Auto Metal Direct to bring this B-Body back from the brink before the cable show's cameras.
There’s still quite a few more cars, so make sure to scroll down and browse the gallery. Which was your favorite?
