You just can’t kill a great car. Despite a global recession and bankruptcy (as well as missing an entire model year) the Dodge Viper will make a triumphant return…eventually. Just when it will make a comeback is still up in the air, although we do finally have some information on when we will see the next Viper.
Brace yourself. According to the Viper Club of America, the next-gen Dodge Viper will debut next April at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, which isn’t very far away at all.
That still leaves so many questions for the answering, and we imagine the details will begin to leak out the closer we get to the show. WIll the next Dodge Viper using a Ferrari engine? Unlikely, but possible. Will it be based on an existing Alfa or Ferrari platform? Again, unlikely…but not totally out of the equation.
It will almost assuredly pack a V10 engine with increased displacement (with rumors suggestion as high as 8.7 liters.) Whether it will be a HEMI or something more…exotic, we just don’t know. But we do have a date, and if Chrysler is getting ready to reveal the next Viper, then it must be close to production. Who knows, by this time next year the new Viper might even be hitting the streets.
We can only hope.
