The 1970 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T is among the rarest and most sought after classic Mopars. Even rarer are Hemi Coronets such as this one, which still has all of its original documents including the build and broadcast sheets. Recently, she went through a full restoration using only NOS or original factory parts which is a rare feat. Its numbers-matching 426 Hemi was given an overhaul in 2000 by none other than the late legendary Dick Landy. This Hemi is attached to an A833 four-speed manual making it 1 of 4, four-speed Hemi Coronets in existence.

Its Code F8 Dark Green Metallic paint with the R/T rear stripe delete was chosen by the owner original. Deleting the rear stripe mixed with the metallic paint resulted in a stealthy sleeper look. Hidden by the stealthy paint is the dual ramcharger hood which directly delivers cool air into the mighty Hemi. Other options include a solid state AM radio (a big deal in 1970), an 8-track tape player (to blast Led Zeppelin), a “Tic-Toc-Tach”, and full gauges as well as tinted glass.

The 1970 Dodge Coronet was the last Coronet musclecar before it was redesigned as a 4 door sedan. The 1970 Coronet R/T was a blue collar man’s racecar equipped with either a 440 RB or the legendary 426 Hemi which dominated the dragstrip. The Hemi had a 10.25:1 Compression and had enough power to slingshot the 3,400 pound Coronet to 60 in 5.3 seconds.

This rare Coronet is set to roll across the stage at Mecum in late July where it’s expected to sell for no less than six figures, and it may fetch seven. Aside from being 1 of 4 four-speed Hemi Coronets, it’s also one of 13 1970 Hemi Coronets ever built. How much do you think this machine will fetch at auction?
