Like a an Egyptian mummy quietly sealed away for a millennia in its tomb, this 1970 Ford Torino Super Cobra remained well preserved in a barn for the last 44 years. Despite not touching pavement since 1991, this Ford Torino has been well taken care of; never showered with rain or buried in snow.
Even though it has spent its entire life in upstate New York, not a spec of rust resides on the Torino. Residing in the engine bay is the original 429 Cobra Jet mill with 11:1 compression, a Holley 700CFM carb covered by the ram air hood option. This beastly mill is tied to 4-speed tranny and a 3.91 rear end that roasts the tires. Only 49,073 original miles were clocked on the dash, and it has never been washed or repainted making it a living time capsule from 1970.
The current seller first came across this beauty a few years ago when the original owner asked him to do electrical work on the car. At the time he asked the owner if he was interested in selling it, he wasn’t interested but said if he changed his mind he’d call. About a month ago he received the car, purchased the Torino and is now selling it on eBay.
The Torino was Ford’s midsize musclecar that was designed to compete in NASCAR against Chevy’s Chevelle and Dodge Charger. The Torino had plenty of success on the Super Speedways and success in Super Stock drag racing, thanks to the car’s drag pak option it dominated bowties and Mopars on the strip.
