Pennsylvania Estate Sale Features Several Fast, Rare Fords

shelby-estate-1 [1]The generation known as the Baby Boomers has overseen some of the most culturally tumultuous and financially prosperous times in America’s history. They’re getting up there in age though, and the sad fact is that many older car guys are starting to pass on to the great junkyard in the sky, leaving behind huge collections of rare and valuable vehicles and parts. Sometimes these hidden collections can be worth a small fortune.

shelby-estate-2 [2]Bangshift was tipped off to a Pennsylvania estate sale [3] that includes several rare and valuable Ford vehicles, including a 1969 Shelby GT500 with a four-speed transmission and a 428 Cobra Jet V8 and a stick-shift, Cleveland-powered Ranchero.

The one-owner Shelby is the crown of the collection, having just one owner and 8,531 miles on the odometer. While it may not be one of the most desirable years for Shelby Mustangs, its unrestored condition and low mileage are sure to attract some big-buck bidders. The car was meticulously preserved, never driven in the rain and obsessively protected by its owner.

Shelby aside, a few other attractive vehicles will also be up for bid, including a ‘73 Ford Ranchero with a 351 Cleveland V8 and a four-speed manual, a rather rare drivetrain all things considered. The Shaker hood and 53,000 original miles should make it a compelling buy for someone wanting something a bit different, though a more-common 1990 Ford Mustang LX with the V8 might be more attractive for someone wanting a fast and easy ride. There’s also a few classic Ford pickups for purchase, if that’s more your speed.

These estate sales will sadly become only more common, and there may come a point where the sales outnumber the buyers. In that case, what happens to the less-rare but still-cool cars?
