Power Without Compromise: Vortech’s LSX-Swap Supercharging System

VortechLSXSwap_1The LS line speaks for itself when it comes to making loads of power, and presents various options to suit a builder’s needs. But what if you want a supercharger? Application-specific kits are out there, but Vortech has provided the solution to cover anything your heart desires: the LSX-Swap Supercharging System.

The company introduced the kit as a way to solve the problem of application-specific kits. As explained by Vortech’s Brian Ellis, the LSX-Swap suits anyone who’s tired of the guesswork involved with trying to find parts that fit inside something as unconventional as a hot rod, Nissan 240, BMW 3-Series, or other makes and models.

“We wanted to give folks something that mounted the blower tight to the motor,” said Ellis. “There’s other existing kits that mount the blower farther away, so with our kit, it’s right up close and can work with a lot more cars. We even have a truck-based FEAD (front engine accessory drive) version in the works.”

Minus fuel enrichment and tuning, the kit comes with everything a builder needs to get started: a V3-Fi supercharger supporting up to 775 horsepower, a billet aluminum mounting bracket plus 3/8-inch steel plate, a 10-rib serpentine drive to encompass multiple pulley options, mandrel-bent aluminum discharge ducting with Maxflow Race Bypass valve, and all necessary components including silicone couplers, clamps, and high-quality hardware.

“In a span of a few hours, a builder can have the essentials of his supercharger installed and ready to work in the direction he wants to go,” said Ellis. “He can also boost the horsepower higher if he opts for our V7-YSi supercharger, which supports up to 1,200 horsepower.”

Vortech put the kit through its paces testing on classic GM muscle cars swapped with an LS engine, as well as unusual imports, since late 2014. “We tried out Chevelles, El Caminos, and a couple of drift cars, one of which was a 240,” said Ellis. “We know it got put on a BMW 3-Series outside the States too, and it’s still running strong.”

Last but not least, the LSX-Swap will suit a builder’s taste with three different finishes including satin (PN 4GX218-010L), black (PN 4GX218-014L), and polished (PN 4GX218-018L). Find out more about the product by visiting Vortech online, and be sure to Like the company on Facebook as well.
