Everybody has their own opinion on where they stand with the pro-touring movement. Being a trend that started roughly fifteen years ago, there’s just no getting away from it today, and we don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing at all.
In fact, one of our favorite pro-touring sites in the internet is Pro-Touring.com, a place where gearheads from all walks of life can gather can discuss lowering springs, camber angles, wheel/tire combinations, and basically anything else having to do with the way their project car stops and handles.
When we ran by a thread regarding Lou Cartagena’s ’72 Camaro RS, we had to take a peak, and we have to admit, we like what we’re seeing so far. Based on a Gulf Green coupe with matching interior, Lou clearly has big plans for this thing as he intends to swap in a carbureted LS motor, Hotchkis 3-link suspension, 19-inch rollers, big brakes, and a paddle-shifted gearbox.
Like most builders, Lou is being quite mum on the details, but with the pictures and info he has shared on everyone’s favorite pro-touring site, also include, custom one-off gauges, a welded in roll cage, and we imagine some extremely supportive race seats and safety harnesses. We’ll keep our readers posted on this project as it progresses if possible, and we wish Lou the best of luck with the build.
