RK Motors in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been putting out some incredibly awesome cars. Many of them have us drooling, and then drooling some more. Often times, we look at our own project cars and if we had just seen one of the builds from RK Motors, we get disappointed and realize we have a lot of work to do.
Their latest project car, called RK527, is a tribute car based on a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang. But rather than just build this tribute car, in honor of the Mustang’s 50th anniversary, RK Motors has decided to put some serious punch to the go-stick in the form of an 800 horsepower, Jon Kaase built Boss 527 cubic inch engine.
Along with the impressive engine on this tribute Pro-Touring build, is a who’s who of performance parts. With the Vintage Wheels 18″ Shelby wheels with polished spinner came a huge offset to clear the massive six-piston Baer disc brakes. The Detroit Speed quadra-link and coilover shocks used on the rear of the car will help keep things planted as that 800 horsepower transits power through a Tremec T-56 six-speed transmission to the rearend.
Feeding fuel and air to the custom Jon Kaase heads is a FAST XFI ECU Port Fuel Injection system, and making things look great up front is the Billet Specialties front drive system. Keeping things tight inside is the Bryant Billet Crankshaft, pumping all that power through a custom 3-inch exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. Keeping that powertrain planted is done with the help of the custom Detroit Speed Alumaframe with coilover shocks up front as well.
With that kind of power, it’s hard to imagine not roasting any tire wrapped around the wheels, but BF Goodrich G-Force sport tires will attempt to keep traction as much as possible. But that’s not the end of the high-end components used, and despite our attempts to find out more, we’re told we’ll just have to wait like everyone else for the unveiling at Charlotte Motor Speedway on April 18th during the Mustang 50th Birthday celebration, beginning today.
