Last year’s SEMA Show saw Chrysler arrive with a bevy of shiny showcars, yet the one that arguably drew the most speculation was the Dodge Viper ACR concept. We were hoping that it would see production and according to Mopar fan site Allpar, it might arrive sooner than expected. Allpar sources say the American Club Racing designation will make an encore on the Viper nameplate for 2016 and begin production in the summer of this year.

If the regular Viper with its new “One of One” factory concierge isn’t fast and freaky enough for you, an ACR version might do the trick. Remember, the last-gen Viper ACR smoked the Nurburgring and held the fastest street legal lap record on the Green Hell. We can only hope that a new version will use that as stepping off point for the new edition.

This Viper scoop was noticeably sparse regarding powertrain info. We know there’s a 707 HP Hellcat motor on Mopar’s shelf, but that seems a bit too retrograde for the big kahuna model. A supercharged, Hellcat V-10 would be awesome and really get tongues wagging. What do say, FCA?

Here’s what we do know. Per SEMA concept, expect carbon fiber splitter up front, gigantic competition wing at the rear, aero ducting, a differential cooler, and huge 15.4 inch carbon ceramic brakes. Carpet, radio, sound-deadening material, and air-conditioning will be conspicuously absent in order to save weight.
