In a break from tradition, ROUSH Performance has announced their first post-title upgrade package. The ROUSH 5XR Mustang delivers 525 horsepower and 465 ft-lb of flywheel torque by adding the R2300 ROUSHcharger to a production 5.0-liter Mustang.
“I’m always excited to get an opportunity to work on a new engine, and the Ford 5.0-liter is a great platform. It has 412 horsepower to begin with, but our group was able to coax out another 113 horsepower with the ROUSHcharger. The 2011 ROUSH 5XR runs fast, sounds great, and is another amazing addition to the ROUSH Mustang heritage,” commented Jack Roush on the announcement.
In addition to the power adder, ROUSH technicians will install the Stage 2’s performance suspension, which includes updated struts, shock absorbers, rear springs, sway bars and ROUSH 20-inch chrome rims fitted with Cooper RS3 tires. An aggressive exhaust system and body kit are also included to set your 5XR apart from the rest of the herd. Consisting of OEM-quality and finish components, the body kit includes a new front fascia with driving lights, billet upper grille, front and side splitters, rear valance and decklid spoiler.
According to ROUSH, production of the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang will be limited to 150 units. The 5XR package carries a list price of $15,390 in addition to the cost of the titled, manual transmission-only Mustang GT. The package is not available for sale in California.
