Royal Purple is a leading manufacturer of high performance synthetic lubricants, and every year they can be found at SEMA showing us their products. But for the past three years, they haven’t been going to the biggest automotive industry trade show alone. They’ve been bringing two lucky winners with them to show off their cars as part of the “Royal Purple Show It Off At SEMA” contest.

As in previous years, the winning entries were vehicles that were the epitome of attention to detail, and overall cool rides that most all of us wish were parked in our own garage. Royal Purple held the “Show It Off At SEMA” contest via their Facebook Page and enthusiasts had an opportunity to submit their vehicle for this special invitation.

The two winners this year have been announced, and we can tell you first hand that judging was tough, because among the panel of judges was our own Group Editor, Mike Alexander. Judges also included last years’ winners, Dennis Rostenbach and Todd Foust, who brought their cars with them to SEMA courtesy of Royal Purple last year.

Winning for the car category this year was Mark Field with his beautiful 1969 Camaro that’s been customized from just about every angle. Under the hood was the heart of a beast – a Chevrolet Performance Ram Jet 502 cubic inch big block.

To keep that beast a little more tame on the streets were suspension components from Heidts and Detroit Speed. The hand stitched interior and exterior flamed-theme paint job catch everyone’s attention when the hood is shut, and the BBC isn’t running.

On the truck side of the contest, something new this year, was a gorgeous 1955 Ford F-100 owned by Steven Bloom. Bloom showed everyone that even a custom vehicle built in less than a year – 300 days, to be exact – could be a winner in the contest.

Blooms F-100 is powered by a Ford 347 cubic inch stroker pumping out 495 horsepower. The custom truck was packed with a big list of modifications, too, including a custom tube chassis and a custom interior surrounded by body mods that make this truck one-of-a-kind.
