Rumor: Dealers Get Info That Says 5,500 GT350s Will Be Built In 2016

GT350 1

Shelby Mustangs have always been produced in low numbers. If there were more of them produced, they wouldn’t command the attention or the escalated entry fee. We wouldn’t look at them the same if they were produced in high numbers.

The latest Shelby everyone craves is the GT350. With the new body style 2015, and the lack of a GT500 for the foreseeable future, the GT350 gets top billing. Plus, with a new 5.2L flat-plane crankshaft engine producing upwards of 500 horsepower, it’s a benchmark car. Not only that, but a low production number automatically ramps up desirability.

The 2015 Shelby GT350 will number only 100 cars, with GT350R production matching that of the original GT350 at 37 cars. Rumor has it 2016 GT350 and GT350R production numbers will be greatly increased over 2015. The numbers we saw hinted at perhaps 5,500 cars combined for 2016. Of course, history will most likely repeat itself with the R model being the rarer version.

Rumored MSRP for the GT350 is around $52,000, but don't expect to get one for that price, unless your papa has a dealership.

As far as pricing for the 2015 GT350, the 2015 GT350 will have have an MSRP of just over $50,000. However, we’re sure the “adjusted market value” will have the out-the-door price closer to $75,000. Unlike recent Boss 302 models, the GT350 and GT350R models will have several option packages, including a Tech package, Track package, navigation, black-painted roof, and stripe options.

The Track package is said to feature new MagneRide shocks, various drive modes, beefier springs, and supplemental fluid coolers for the engine, differential, and transmission. The Tech package features many of those same options, but also heated and cooled seats, dual-zone climate control, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, and even the new Sync 3 infotainment system. Many Boss 302 fans and enthusiasts had wished their cars were optioned so highly. It’s too late to get those cars optioned this way, but now these options are available with the GT350 and GT350R.

And just in time, too. We’re gonna get both a GT350 and GT350R…if we win the lottery.
