Say “Geronimo” – Bombs Away On A New Vintage Project Truck

We picked up this tired old warrior this weekend. It starts, runs, and stops. It has a clear title and almost everything that it left the factory with. How could we say no?

We picked up a new daily driver this past weekend, and the current plan is to turn the vintage beast into a street-worthy daily driver without changing very much. While it may take a few weeks to find out about all of the “character” that this beauty has, and solve all of those issues, we wanted to reach out to our readers and see what their thoughts on this project vehicle are.

Here are the details on the truck: It’s a 1960 Chevrolet Apache 20 Series with a three-on-the-tree, and a straight six 235ci workhorse. It still has the stock single barrel carburetor. The truck has everything that it left the Los Angeles factory with in 1960, except the wood in the bed and the cigarette lighter. In short, it’s very stock. The only things that have been added are a few character dings and some rust.

Except for the cigarette lighter in the dash panel and the wood in the bed, this truck is as complete as it was when it left the factory in 1960.

We’ve ordered the right rear tail light lens, a saddle blanket seat cover and the driver’s side door release handle and striker mechanism. All of which should be here within a week. This will give us time to get some new tires to replace the weather-rotted rubber, and get the vehicle registered. We’ve taken to calling the old warrior “Geronimo” for obvious reasons. Like the Apache indian chief, this tired old warrior is looking to live out its days removed from its past wars.

It even had the stock 235ci straight six with single barrel carb.

Everyone that we have shown the truck to has expressed their ideas on what we should do with the truck. We wanted to know what our readers thought of this project, so we pose the question to you: What would you do with this great old truck?
