Most of us take for granted the fact that every day we wake up in a bed, healthy and (relatively) happy. But there are those even within our own country who wake up with the knowledge that their time on Earth is drawing to a close. What would you do if you knew you had just three months to live?
Over at the Hemmings Auto Blog, a forum-goer named Jim Sharp has put out a special request to the Pontiac GTO owners of the Internet. He would like someone to lend his dying father a classic ‘67 GTO to drive to his favorite fishing spot for the last few months of his life.
Jim’s father Ken was diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer and has been given just a few months to live. That is not a long time, and Ken seems content to spend most of it fishing at his favorite lake. Jim has always wanted to track down his father’s cherry red ‘67 Pontiac GTO, but now the clock is ticking, and Jim has different request.
He’d like someone out there who owns a ‘67 Pontiac GTO to lend it to his father for the remaining months of his life. Jim thinks his father would much prefer going to the lake in a car that reminded him of the one he used to own. It’s a tender request just a few days before Father’s Day, and we hope Ken gets to spend his final days driving a badass muscle car. Seems appropriate, after all.
