Spending The Day With Brothers Performance

What better way to spend a gorgeous sunny afternoon than at a car show held by one of the biggest names in the aftermarket industry? On Saturday September, 15th 2012 we were invited to the Brothers Performance open house in Temecula, California. Part of the event included a dyno competition, free giveaways, an exhaust system sound-off, a car show, and great food. Speaking of giveaways, BBK built a 1995 Mustang GT convertible to give away to one lucky couple at the show.

The giveaway Mustang remained hidden undercover throughout most of the event.

The event kicked off at 10am and lasted until the last car left at 4pm. In an effort to keep the car show as fun as possible, there was no judging and no classes.

Just show up with whatever car you brought and have a good time. Despite the fact that Brothers Performance caters to the late-model Mustang crowd, the event brought musclecars of all varieties to their facility on that hot Saturday.

The dyno shootout did have two categories however; naturally-aspirated and boosted.

The only stipulation in both classes was that nitrous wasn’t allowed. We didn’t see any numbers over 1,000 hp, but there were a few cars that impressed us overall.

Putting down the highest numbers in the power-adder category was Kevin Post’s 2012 Camaro SS that pumped out 626 hp and 537 ft.-lbs of torque to the rollers. Second place would go to Joshua Foster and his 2003 Mustang Cobra with 454 hp and 424 ft.-lbs. at the tires.

The all-motor contingent represented with Bill Baxton’s ’67 Chevelle packing a 572 ci big-block. Numbers from the Chevelle consisted of 547 hp and 526ft.-lbs. of torque, while Mark Jackson’s 2010 Camaro SS followed up with 404hp. An overall good showing, but we were surprised we didn’t see any higher numbers than that. The immense heat must have kept the high rollers away.

The exhaust sound-off was equally cool. Event staff measured the sound level of any car willing to participate with a decibel meter. Scoring the top three positions was Kevin Post’s Camaro SS once again (121.1 DB), along with Ryan Hall’s ’99 Trans Am (120.6 DB), and Rick Shappard’s 2010 Camaro SS (118.7 DB). We were deaf for hours after this contest.

The event ended with the Mustang giveaway. Brothers Performance had picked up a 1995 GT convertible with the intent of giving it away to anyone who had ordered their new catalog. The content was held several months earlier, and the winner had already been selected prior to that weekend.

The Mustang was unveiled at the show and winners Larry and Maria Stafford were flown in from Tucson, Arizona to collect their prize. It was one of the nicest ’95 Mustangs we’ve seen in a long time, and featured many of BBK’s performance and Steeda dress-up items, including aftermarket wheels and a full suspension and exhaust upgrade.

The atmosphere was chill, and everybody was friendly. The food was provided by Bitchin’ Burgers and it was great! We’d like to thank Tim Gilpin for all of his accommodations in helping us during this event, and we look forward to another show by Brothers Performance possibly next year!
