Back in the late 90’s, the Plymouth brand was dropped by ze Germans after joining forces with Chrysler, ending decades of awesome cars. If there was one Plymouth that we remember better than any other though, it was the Road Runner, a B-platform car that was meant to be Plymouth’s 14-second bargain drag racer. Alas, with Plymouth gone, so goes any hope of seeing the Road Runner name return.
But there are plenty of vintage Road Runners out there being modded and modernized, like Spitzer Concept’s low-and-cool “Road Rattler” that debuted at the 2011 SEMA show. Packing almost 800 horsepower and riding lower than a snake’s belly, the Road Rattler is one cool bird.
This car is low, and to further enhance the low-riding look, the entire body has been customized front to back. The Road Rattler rides on a tubular frame chassis, has a chopped roof, and a race-inspired interior. Many of the suspension components were pulled from a C5 Corvette, and big Wilwood breakes help stop this low-riding beast. They have their work cut out for them though, as under the hood is a 528 cubic-inch HEMI V8 producing 790 horsepower.
