With the unveiling of the 2015 Mustang and Challenger SRT Hellcat, a question left on everyone’s mind is this: where’s the next Camaro? GM is holding its cards close to the chest regarding the future of the pony car, and every once in a while, the automaker gives us the occasional bone to chew on with drives around town and tiny tidbits of information.
This video, posted by Motor Authority by way of Vimeo, affords us something more tangible and awesome than the latest crop of fanmade renderings, however. Shot at the legendary German race track, the Nürburgring, the clip gives us a sense of how well we can expect the next-generation to carve its way around corners and blast down straightaways.
Official track times have yet to be released by Chevrolet, but we have high hopes for the car after hearing reports from USA Today‘s assessment. Higher-ups from Detroit were able to confirm that the car will indeed be built on the Cadillac ATS chassis, indicating a downsizing from the full-size Zeta platform to the compact Alpha platform.
Yet as far as other details are concerned, like lightening the weight or rounding out the engine choices with a turbocharged four-cylinder a là the EcoBoost 2015 Mustang, the word has been mum. Chevy hasn’t even decided when and where it will debut the new model, just that we can expect it to go on sale late next year.
Whatever the end result may be of the coming months, the main conclusion we can draw here and now is this: the future of the Camaro is in good hands, and can zip around the ‘Ring like nobody’s business.
