How do you keep fresh a car that debuted over a decade ago? That’s the question SRT engineers were tasked with coming into the Chicago Auto Show, where brand new cars and concepts hogged a lion’s share of the attention. We hate to sound spoiled, but the 470 horsepower SRT models just aren’t as exciting in a world of 570 horsepower Camaros and 662 horsepower Shelbys.
So until the supercharged HEMI Hellcat makes its debut, and gives Mopar fans some forced induction love, we’ll have to make due with appearance packages like the Vapor Satin Edition that debuted in Chicago.
We have to be brutally honest here, but the Satin Vapor package for the SRT trio of Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 seems particularly uninspired. The Challenger gets black satin chrome 20-inch rims, with a black satin finish given to the sideview mirrors and gas cap. On the inside are Napa leather seats and seude inserts, and customers can order their Satin Vapor Challenger in red, white, or orange.
The Charger and Chrysler 300 get a similar black satin trim treatment, though the 300 gets a special Granite Crystal color option, in addition to white and silver, with piano trim on the inside (whatever that is). The Charger, meanwhile, is limited to red, silver, or graphite color options, and shares the Napa leather and suede inserts of the Challenger.
Yawn. Come on SRT, you can do better.
