Viper fans the world over released a collective sigh of relief when Chrysler announced that, despite the Viper’s temporary abscense, the American supercar was coming back in 2012 as a 2013 model. Well here we are in 2012, and still no word on what the 2013 Viper will look like. But thanks to social media websites like Facebook, we will soon get our first look at the next generation Viper.
The DriveSRT Facebook page pledged to reveal a teaser shot of the 2013 Viper once their page hit 10,000 “Likes.” Well they’ve hit that number and then some, but we still have to wait until Monday morning to see the actual teaser.
Which leaves us a few more days of speculation. Rumors have swirled that the next Viper could borrow a Ferrari engine or body, seeing as how Fiat owns a controlling stake in the Italian supercar maker. Other rumors suggest a lighter, gentler Viper with less emphasis on raw power and more emphasis on track performance and racing.
As far as looks go, well, the Viper didn’t really change much in its first two decades of existence as far as exterior aesthetics. So really, Chrysler can go one of two ways; stick close to the original Viper’s DNA, or use this as a chance to completely reinvent the Viper. We’re thinking Chrysler goes with the reinvention, and we can’t wait to see that teaser picture come Monday morning, so make sure you tune back in for your first gander.
